Remarks by the Mayor

I am happy and proud to introduce to you the newly revised Internet Site for the City of Afula, which forms a part of the municipal system of the city, whose goal is to provide you with information about a range of topics and subjects.

In this site you will find all of the necessary information about the City of Afula: services to residents, the cultural and artistic life in the city, sport and leisure activities, public institutions and bodies connected to the city, and you will keep updated on everything that happens in an efficient, simple and user-friendly way.

In the past few years Afula has staked a claim in the national public awareness as uncrowned capital of the valley and a leading city in the north. It was founded in 1925 around the Valley Train station, and has enjoyed an unprecedented period of development that has continued and strengthened recently.

Projects in the fields of infrastructure, such as building, entrepreneurship, business and services, along with the development of social services and the care for the individual from birth to maturity, grant the residents a quality of life and a standard of living like those seen in the most developed cities in Israel. Afula holds within it great potential and advantages. Residential building continues at a high pace including apartment houses and sites for private homes, as well as commercial buildings and new shopping centers.

In the public sector, we have built a sports center and a new soccer stadium, a new city swimming pool that opened at the end of last season and will enjoy full operation this summer, and, of course, the municipal park that is a magnet for city and area residents in everything connected to sports, leisure activities and more.

In Afula you can see a fine film at the refurbished cinema and end your evening at one of the fine restaurants or fashionable coffee houses in the city, that add a culinary aspect to the mosaic of services that residents enjoy.

The Atidim 2010 Project was recently announced, which will include a high quality employment site, providing an advantage to entrepreneurs in the hi-tech industries, a technology center, and centers for logistics and for the technological enrichment for the city's youth that will advance sophisticated industry in Afula.

I invite all of you to come and take note of the city and of our advanced Internet site, to get to know our city and to enjoy the commercial and cultural services that we would be delighted to provide to you.
